Environmental Protection Act (R.S.O. 1990, c. E.19).

The purpose of this Act is to ensure the protection and conservation of the natural environment. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein such as, for example, adverse effect , air , analyst , certification of property use , contaminant , discharge , environmental penalty , inspection , natural environment , source of contaminant . The Act consists of 197 sections divided into 17 Parts as follows: Administration (I); General provisions (II); Motors and motor vehicles (III); Water (IV); Waste management (V); Ozone depleting substances (VI); Abandoned motor vehicles (VII); Litter, packaging, containers, disposable products and products that pose waste management problems (IX); Spills (X); Control orders and stop orders (XI); Financial assurance (XII); Appeals to Tribunal (XIII); Work done by Ministry (XIV); Provincial officers (XV); Environmental Council (XVI); Miscellaneous (XVII).
